Lamb & pork delivered to your door

Lambing is upon us!

On the 15th of March we were due to start lambing (we hoped the sheep were also aware of the date and didn't keep us waiting too long!!) We actually started a week early and have now only got 11 left to lamb!

We had the sheep scanned to see the numbers of lambs that were due and were very happy with the result - over 29 double lambs expected from 45 sheep.

Scanning helps farmers feed the sheep according to the numbers of lambs they are due to have.  If you have a sheep expecting 1 lamb (a single) then you don't want to feed it as much as a sheep expecting 2 lambs (a double) as the lamb could grow too big and cause problems during lambing, or in the case of a double, the lambs could be too small if she is not fed enough.

Anyway, we have already had 4 sets of triplets (3 lambs) and many doubles. I will keep you informed of final numbers!

Farmers Market update

Thank you to everyone who supported us at the Taunton farmers/craft market on 9th December.  It was a great success and lovely to meet new and existing customers.

Unfortunatley due to being pregnant we have decided to put our farmers markets on hold for the time being. Obviously, if you have tasted, and fancy any of our produce please contact us so that we can deliver it to you.

I had trouble contacting one person back following the previous farmers market regarding tomato and basil sausages - if you do read this again, we will have some at the market so please telephone us.

Thank you for your support.

Have you thought about giving a gift box?

Why not give the budding (or experienced) chef  a meat box, lamb, pork or mixed box , complete with recipe ideas. Makes a great gift for birthdays, christmas, wedding aniversaries or even to say  thank you!  You never know, you might even get an invite round to eat it !!!

lamb Boxes can be suited to all budgets, tell us what you would like to spend and we can present you with a lovely presented box .

(minimum order £20 + postage and packaging if necessary).

Interested? Please E-mail or phone 07891 005690

Show jumping pigs!

One of our Oxford Sandy and Black Pigs has decided that she prefers fresh grass and newly dropped acorns to the woods they are currently in.  As the woodland slopes, she has be jumping over the "high" pig netting and having a field day in our nice green (now muddy brown) field.  Until we can higher the fencing, (and because she is the only one doing it ) we have had to take her away from the woodland to prevent the distruction.

Alexanders' doing his bit for the breed!

pigletsAlexander our Oxford Sandy and Black boar is doing a fine job in attracting the ladies.  Two days ago another of our pedigree sows gave birth to 13 of Alexanders babies

Well done Alex.
